Alfred “Fred” Padeway

Alfred “Fred” Padeway (1963 – 2014) was a dedicated civic leader, advocate, and member of El Pomar’s Elevating Leadership Development. A U.S. Army veteran, he earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and an MPA from Seattle University.

Fred was devoted to community stewardship and empowering marginalized and minority leaders. In 1998, he served on the Minority Opportunities to Strengthen Awareness in Communities (MOSAIC) Steering Committee at the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region where he played a pivotal role in shaping the group’s name and concept—promoting community engagement, building networks, and crafting a pipeline of qualified leaders for board service. He also helped create El Pomar’s Multicultural Youth Leadership Initiative, which evolved into The College Experience at University of Colorado Colorado Springs.

Fred chaired the board of Southern Colorado AIDS Project and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado—Pikes Peak, and lived the mission as a Big Brother. Professionally, he served as senior program manager for the Gill Foundation’s Gay and Lesbian Fund for Colorado and public affairs specialist at Intel Corporation, where he inspired civic engagement. Fred’s life was marked by service, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference. His legacy continues to impact the lives of those who knew him.
