Penrose Heritage Museum Family Exploration Day
Join us for a FREE Family Exploration Day on Saturday, June 3 from 10am - 2pm at Penrose Heritage Museum!
Penrose Heritage Museum’s rare and one-of-a-kind historic race cars and carriages will be on display, including Spencer Penrose’s 105-year-old race car, The Broadmoor Special, nicknamed the Yellow Devil. The Yellow Devil’s engine will run twice during the event, an occurrence that only happens a few times a year and is not typically open to the public. It will fire at 11am and 1pm - join us to hear the Yellow Devil’s engine roar!
In addition, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb competitor, Andy Kingsley, will be present with his Porsche race car. Families can meet Andy, hear about his experiences on Pikes Peak and even sit inside the cockpit of his Porsche!
Families can also sit in a historic carriage and participate in several activities, including a word search and maze to win kid-friendly prizes, as well as a crossword puzzle and scavenger hunt to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win admission to the following attractions:

- A family membership to the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College
- Tickets to ride The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway
- Tickets to drive the highway up to Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain

- Tickets to the 2023 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
- 2023 season pass to The Broadmoor Seven Falls
These activities will connect the community with the history of Spencer and Julie Penrose and their invaluable legacy in the Pikes Peak region.
Admission is FREE for all and Penrose Heritage Museum staff will provide parking validations for free parking in The Broadmoor parking garage. We hope to see you there!
