Pikes Peak Forest Health Symposium

October 20, 2017

In the last few years, Colorado Springs has been threatened by several significant forest fires. Due to our community’s unique interface with the forest, Colorado Springs continues to face the threat of another forest fire on an annual basis. The Pikes Peak Heritage Series convened community stakeholders and forest experts to not only learn about the  threat of a fire in our region, but to also discuss how Colorado Springs can prevent and prepare for possible forest fires.

The Pikes Peak Forest Health Symposium provided insight into how Colorado Springs has dealt with forest fire in the past, current efforts to mitigate fire danger, and fire prevention strategies other communities have adopted.

Keynote speaker Harris Sherman emphasized the importance of all sectors working together in his address: "Collective, bold actions can truly make a difference".
