Darsey Nicklasson

As President and Founder of DHN Planning and Development, Darsey Nicklasson oversees the development & execution of the company’s strategic vision & real estate portfolio. With more than two decades of experience in real estate, Darsey leads DHN’s transformation into a regional development firm, creating unprecedented long-term value & opportunity for investors, associates, and the communities in which the company operates.

Darsey is a visionary & collaborative leader with extensive experience in real estate development & property management. She is highly invested in the communities she serves & seeks to holistically address housing & cultural needs. Darsey believes in creating places by designing and building life, vitality and community into the urban landscape. By listening and connecting with people who want to combine community with modern living, she designs and builds unique, innovative places where people live, connect and come together to make things happen.

In 2016, along with partner Kathy Loo, she opened Blue Dot Place, the first residential development in downtown Colorado Springs since the 1960s. The property is a mixed-use development with 33-apartments & retail space. Blue Dot Place was a Colorado Urban Land Institute Impact Award nominee & case study. In 2020, Blue Dot Place sold for $13 million or $393,000 per unit, a record high per-unit price in Colorado Springs, breaking the previous record of $251,000 per unit.

DHN opened Casa Mundi in 2020, a 27-unit multi-family property with first floor retail. The property sold in 2021 for $12.8 million. In 2021, DHN broke ground on Mosaica (223-unit attainable housing project) & Kaleidos (150-unit attainable housing project), both in Southeast Colorado Springs, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 area for home sales in 2021, according to the hottest zip codes report released in 2021 by Realtor.com.

Her service to community goes beyond the construction site. Darsey plays an active role in shaping the future of southern Colorado via the following boards, committees, organizations:

Darsey’s husband Rob and three children, Bryce, Adaleigh, and Henry, ensure she keeps busy beyond city building, with soccer, track, climbing, mountain biking, and superhero stunt activities.
