Mercedes McCue joined El Pomar Foundation as a member of the 2020 Fellowship class. As a 2nd Year Fellow, Mercedes serves as a Program Director for Alumni Relations, the Nonprofit Executive Leadership Program and the Wildland Fire Fund. She also supports the North and Southeast regions.
Mercedes is a fourth-generation cattle rancher from Eastern Colorado. Family is important to Mercedes, so she often spends time helping her mother at her mixed animal veterinary practice, having philosophical conversations with her father who is the county’s economic developer and belly-laughing with her younger brother. She enhanced her leadership experience in the Colorado FFA Association, including taking a year off of college to serve, speak, and facilitate as a State Officer in 2016-17. In May of 2020, she graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in animal science and a minor in agricultural literacy. She was heavily involved in the CSU Presidential Ambassador program, College of Agricultural Sciences Ambassador program, Colorado Farm Bureau, and her campus ministry. She’s happiest when she’s outdoors, amongst agriculture and rural communities, and if she’s not busy with her nose in a book or at work, you can usually find her chugging coffee and spending time with the people who fill her heart and cup.
