Jonathan Royal joined El Pomar Foundation as a member of the 2019 Fellowship class. As a Fellow, Jonathan works on Regional Partnerships, Communications, and the Ackerman and Hambrick Funds. In addition, Jonathan supports the Central Peaks region and the Pikes Peak region.
Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Jonathan earned an undergraduate degree in communication and theology from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. After graduating in 2014, Jonathan directed a community center for at-risk young people with the organization Youth for Christ, developing holistic programs and community partnerships to alleviate the effects of poverty. He later served as a budget specialist at Whitworth, with concurrent roles as the grants administrator and the program coordinator for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Before returning to Colorado Springs, he also earned a master’s degree in theology from Whitworth. Jonathan is passionate about building trust and supporting under-resourced communities in Colorado. In his free time, Jonathan loves to play with his 2-year-old daughter, Mary, and go on dates with his wife, Emily.
