Position: Curator, Penrose Heritage Museum and El Pomar Legacy Properties 
Reports to: Peter M. Maiurro, Senior Vice President 
Job Summary: Oversee daily activity at Penrose Heritage Museum and curate historic artifacts of El Pomar Foundation 
Job Classification: Full-time, exempt
Salary Range: $49,000 - $57,000 per year
Essential Duties:
Perform and manage all daily operational activities of the Penrose Heritage Museum (PHM) 
Curate and manage historic artifacts and assets of El Pomar Foundation to include the Penrose Heritage Museum, Penrose House, and The Will Rogers Shrine
Create and manage cooperative relationships with other properties related to the history and legacy of Spencer and Julie Penrose and El Pomar Foundation 
Ensure all safety, security, and accountability regulations are enforced pertaining to PHM and visitors  
Manage presentation of accurate and compelling information throughout the museum
Demonstrate strong customer service for all PHM visitors
Manage staff scheduling of PHM to ensure coverage during all working hours
Train and supervise all employees who serve as Assistant Curators; complete annual performance reviews for those employees
Work closely with Penrose House Special Events manager for coordination and coverage of all special events hosted at Penrose Heritage Museum 
Ensure special event details are accurate and perform necessary set-up tasks for those events
Complete accurate PHM attendance reports monthly and annually
Work cooperatively with museum consultant(s) to regularly update museum content
Order and maintain supplies necessary for effective PHM operation
Communicate as necessary with supervisor about matters of importance or concern
Complete annual inventory of all PHM artifacts and assets to be provided to El Pomar accounting office 
Maintain strong communication and relationship with The Broadmoor
Prepare long-range planning and forecasting recommendations as they pertain to the operation, restoration, and maintenance of Penrose Heritage Museum and other historic artifacts of El Pomar Foundation 
Draft operational and project budgets for annual PHM and artifact expenditures for review by supervisor

Perform other duties as assigned 
Be a self-starter and enjoy interacting and providing accurate information to visitors
Ability to manage and work cooperatively with others, including several direct reports 
Strong customer service skills and attitude 
Strong work ethic and willingness to utilize down-time productively   
Have a working knowledge of the life and legacy of Spencer and Julie Penrose, El Pomar Foundation and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb
Have a valid Colorado Driver’s License
Ability to multi-task and problem solve under sometimes short or conflicting deadlines
Ability to work independently, as well as contributing member of a team
Attention to detail

Ability to anticipate and meet the needs and expectations of supervisors
Meet established deadlines
Punctual to work and meetings 
Asset management using database software.  Experience with Past Perfect preferred.
Museum, curatorial, or artifact management experience is preferred

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
Physical Demands:
Occasional lifting up to 50lbs
Climbing stairs daily, standing/walking for long periods of time
