Wildfire Response: El Pomar Continues Funding Through $2.5 Million Pledge

One week ago, El Pomar Foundation announced a $2.5 million commitment to support wildfire response efforts throughout Colorado. Here is an updated list of organizations that have received funding. The Foundation will continue to make grants that support first responders and human service organizations assisting those who have been affected by wildfires, with a goal of addressing both short and long-term needs.   • Fort Carson Army Community Services - $5,000 for support and supplies for military evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire
  • Peterson Airmens Family Readiness Services - $5,000 for support and supplies for military evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire
  • Pikes Peak United Way - $125,000 to support the Waldo Canon Fire Victim Assistance Fund
  • Boys & Girls Clubs of Pikes Peak Region - $20,000 to provide day care services/programs for the children of families that have been displace/evacuated
  • YMCA of the PP Region - $15,000 to support firefighters and evacuees to use the YMCA for showers, rest and recreation and support for the SE YMCA, which is a designated shelter for evacuees
  • Discover Goodwill Southern and Western Colorado - $10,000 for vouchers for evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire
  • Tri Lakes Cares – $5,000 for food and supplies for evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire
  • Mercy Gate$5,000 for food and supplies for evacuees of the Waldo Canyon Fire
  • Peak Vista Community Health Centers - $12,000 to support supplies, materials and equipment for emergency clinics in Teller County and El Paso County
  • Catholic Charities of Central Colorado – $10,000 for food to shelters in COS and Divide
  • Rocky Mountain Health Care Services - $10,000 for sheltering of 70 individuals and small animals as well as transportation
  • Community Cupboard of Woodland Park - $5,000 for food and support for individuals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region
  • Teller County Regional Animal Shelter - $2,500 for expenses associated with sheltering animals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region
  • American Red Cross, Pikes Peak Region - $25,000 for sheltering operations for individuals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region
  • American Red Cross, Mile High Chapter - $25,000 for sheltering operations for individuals displaced by fires
  • Salvation Army - $10,000 for mobile feeding of firefighters in the Pikes Peak Region
  • Care and Share - $5,000 for food to support individuals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region
  • Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region  - $2,500 for expenses associated with sheltering small animals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region
  • Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Foundation - $2,500 for expenses associated with sheltering large animals displaced by fires in Pikes Peak Region and relocated to Norris Penrose Center
  • Donald Wescott Fire Protection District - $5,000 for volunteer operations and support equipment
  • Hanover Fire Department - $5,000 for wild land fire PPE (boots, pants, shirts, etc.)
  • Manitou Springs Fire Department - $10,000 for wild land fire PPE (boots, pants, shirts, etc.)
  • Green Mountain Falls VFD - $5,000 for supplies and equipment to support Waldo Canyon Fire efforts
  • Tri Lakes Monument Fire Protection District - $2,000 to purchase updated fire shelters
  • Broadmoor Fire Department - $1,250 to provide additional security during the evening for potential arson threats
  • Black Forest Fire/Rescue - $10,000 for the purchase of wildland gear
  • Cascade Volunteer Fire Department - $5,000 for volunteer operations and support equipment
  • American Red Cross – SW Colorado – $5,000 to provide food and supplies to firefighters
  • Glen Haven FD - $2,500 for PPE
  • Teller County Search and Rescue - $2,500 for operating costs
  • Fountain Fire Department - $2,000 to replace five damaged fire shelters
  • Tri-County Fire Protection District - $600 for web belts to carry fire shelters
  • Teller County Sheriff’s Office - $15,000 for operating expenses for wild land fire fighting team
  • El Paso County Sheriff's Office - $10,000 for operating expenses for wild land fire fighting team
  • Pikes Peak Fire Fighters Association - $5,000 to support food and supplies to firefighters
  • Highway 115 South FD - $20,000 for the purchase of two Utility Terrain Vehicles
  • Palmer Lake FD - $20,000 for the purchase of two UTVs
  • El Paso County Sheriff - $20,000 for two UTVs
  • Broadmoor FD - $20,000 for two UTVs
  • Wet Mountain FPD - $20,000 for two UTVs
  • Poudre FPD - $5,400 for Personal Protective Equipment
