Hundreds of high school students across southern Colorado gathered Thursday to discuss this years election. Discussion focused on reminding students that their voice and vote matters.

With less than two months until the elections, the candidates are on everyone's mind.

"It's one of the most unusual elections. We have the wife of a former president running, first woman candidate running on a major ticket, and we have Donald Trump who's also not a typical politician," said Steve Clemons, editor at large of Atlantic Magazine.

Clemons is trying to get the younger generation to see past the politicians' personalities and look at the bigger picture. Clemons writes and speaks frequently about politics, foreign policy and national security issues, as well as domestic and global economic-policy challenges.
