“Stars and Stellar Brands” Go Charitable


How much would you pay to be able to have a one-on-one hangout session with one of history’s most iconic rock 'n' roll stars? For Jimmy Liautaud, restaurant owner of Jimmy John's food chain, the number was not small, but the money he paid for a private tour of the guitar collection of David Howell Evans of U2 went to benefit a New York school for musicians.

According to a recent New York Times article and evidence by Bon Jovi’s latest endeavor, more and more “stars and stellar brands” are jumping on the philanthropic bandwagon. Celebrities and well-known political and sports icons—including Paul McCartney, Bill Clinton, and Andre Agassi—are now earning top dollar for the charities of their choice by auctioning off their time or belongings.
