Northeast Colorado Bookmobile Services hit the streets with a "new" used bookmobile in 2017. After retiring the 1992 Bluebird bookmobile at the end of the year, the new 2000 Thomas Built model was put into service. An open house will be held Monday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot acress the street from the Yuma County Courthouse. If you'd like to check out the new wheels, this will be a great opportunity to get a close up look and find out more about bookmobile services.
NECBS was able to purchase the bookmobile with grant funds awarded from the El Pomar Regional Transportation Challenge. This opportunity was a pefect fit for the bookmobile library and the only applicant fully funded by the El Pomar Foundation. Janice Salmans, NECBS Board Chairman attended the awards reception at the Penrose House in Colorado Springs in Decemeber to offically accept the grant.
The Yuma County Commissioners gave their full support to the project including negotiating the purchase, acting as the fiscal agent and getting all the paperwork process to push the deal through.
Now with a new bookmobile ready to roll, NECBS will conitnue to proudly serve the communities in northeastern Colorado as it has for 60 years.
