Once a month, Fellows gather at Penrose House for Investment Challenge, part of the two-year professional development program at El Pomar Foundation. As a part of the class Fellows learn about stocks, bonds, personal finance, and participate in a sometimes fierce stock market simulation game. Last week’s class focused on an increasingly popular investment strategy, known as socially responsible investing (SRI). But what happens when the ideas behind socially conscious investing are taken even further? Forbes recently interviewed Antony Bugg-Levine, CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund, about his organization’s attempts to reshape the way for-profit companies worldwide do business.
In the interview, Bugg-Levine discusses some of the key themes from his new book, Impact Investing: Transforming How We Make Money While Making a Difference. He discusses the roots of impact investing, some of the recent trends in the field, and his vision for the future.
