Wayne Caudill, a student at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs (UCCS), was selected last weekend as the Colorado Leadership Alliance’s (CLA) Student Leader of the Year. Caudill, who also participates in El Pomar’s Student Leadership Experience, was given the honor at the annual CLA Summit held in Denver. More than 200 students participating in leadership programs from 11 Colorado universities attended the Summit.
As an umbrella organization to these 11 university leadership programs, CLA supports the development of each program by providing a forum to communicate best practices, create shared outcomes, and engage in joint fundraising efforts. Each year the Summit brings renowned leaders to speak and interact with students, directors, and friends of CLA during this unique conference. Additionally, CLA honors one individual each year who displays exceptional leadership and philanthropic involvement as the Student Leader of the Year.
The Chancellor's Leadership Class (CLC), the UCCS-based program that Caudill participates in, nominated him for the prestigious award. The CLC is a highly-selective scholarship program that has the mission to amplify the potential of its scholars through opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and community involvement through exposure to unique curricular and co-curricular experiences.
“This award is for all those people who stood by me and supported me,” Caudill noted. “It’s everyone’s award and it’s a tremendous honor to be recognized for all their work and my work.”
