Broncos fans living in Steamboat Springs are in for a treat this month.
"It's a great event," said Maren McCutchan, public relations manager for the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. "The Salute to the Fans Tour will take place Friday (May 19) night, and people can come out and meet the players and get autographs.
“The Broncos cheerleaders will also be here along with the team's mascot (Miles),” McCutchan added. “The players will run through some drills with the children that come out, and it will be a community celebration."
The Steamboat stop on the tour will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. May 19.
A representative from the Broncos said the team doesn't announce which players will be traveling with the team prior to the tour's arrival in Steamboat, but fans can expect a couple of players as part of the event.
"The Broncos came a couple of years ago, and it was a lot of fun," said Ernie Jenkins. "It's a great photo opportunity for the fans, and there is a lot of fun stuff going on as part of the event.”
Jenkins, parks supervisor for the city of Steamboat Springs, said he got a call several weeks ago, and he was able to secure a venue for the gathering at Ski Town Fields. He said the location offers plenty of room to meet players and other Broncos representatives and there’s lots of parking.
Steamboat will be the ninth stop on the Salute to the Fans Tour, which began on April 21 in Cortez. The Broncos have since visited Del Norte, Trinidad, Fort Morgan, Woodland Park, Aurora, Gunnison and Canyon City.
