2016 Statewide Meeting
October 2 - 4, 2016
Black Hawk, CO
The Trustees of El Pomar Foundation are pleased to welcome you to the 2016 Statewide Meeting.
When Spencer and Julie Penrose established El Pomar Foundation, they were instrumental in setting the trajectory of their home, Colorado Springs. But it was Colorado, not only Colorado Springs that was home to the Penroses. Recognizing this, they established El Pomar Foundation as a foundation for Colorado in 1937. Today, the Foundation remains deeply committed to the entire state, and in its 14th year, the Regional Partnerships program has allowed us to work more effectively throughout rural Colorado as communities invest in their home.
This year, our agenda is focused on the voices of Colorado. To us, home is Colorado, each of our eleven regions, and all 64 counties. Throughout the retreat, Regional Council members will have the opportunity to learn about some of the key topics currently being addressed by foundations, to hear about the state of Colorado from experts in different industries, and to connect with one another. We hope that the connections made at this meeting will inspire new ideas and encourage ongoing collaboration that benefits the philanthropic sector in Colorado.
This year's keynote speakers are:
- Elizabeth Garner, Colorado State Demographer
- Dr. James Pritchett, Executive Associate Dean, College of Agricultural Sciences at Colorado State University
- Patty Limerick, Faculty Director and Chair of the Board of the Center of the American West at University of Colorado
- Luis Benitez, Director, Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office
