Josie Burke joined El Pomar Foundation as director of communications in May 2007 after a decade-long career as a sports reporter. She started her career as a print reporter, writing for the San Diego Union-Tribune and the Fort Worth Star Telegram, before transitioning to television. For six years she worked as a sports reporter covering the top stories of the day for CNN.

As El Pomar's director of communications, Burke is responsible for the Foundation's printed and web-based promotional materials, media relations and public relations. In addition to her communications role, Burke is also actively involved with a number of El Pomar's programs. She is the senior staff representative on El Pomar's North Regional Council and also oversees the Foundation's partnership with The Gazette newspaper for the Gazette-El Pomar Foundation Empty Stocking Fund holiday fundraising campaign.
